Community

Global Renewables is aware of the importance of community support in order to successfully establish UR-3R Facilities.

The award of a Development Consent for the Eastern Creek UR-3R™ Facility in 2003 by the New South Wales Government was unprecedented in the waste industry, with not one submission to the consenting authority opposing the project. Unparalleled community support for the development resulted in the Development Consent being awarded in three months from the time of the application.

"In essence we have no major objection to the UR-3R proposal, in fact we welcome it and it's forward thinking methodology into today's society. We see that there could well be many positive aspects of the proposal which will benefit our community. In this regard, it would be to our benefit if the proposal was in fact allowed to operate at it's maximum possible level, to reduce as much as possible, the odour impacts [of landfill] on our community."

This strong, positive response from local neighbours and councils has continued following the commencement of operations at the Eastern Creek Facility. The community will benefit from the long-term environmental contribution, employment and an economic boost to associated businesses.

Global Renewables is also committed to an education program of school visits, which is being conducted in conjunction with WSN Environmental Solutions and the Fairfield and Blacktown Councils.
