The United Nations Global Compact

In 2002, Global Renewables joined hundreds of companies from around the world in becoming a participant in the Global Compact.

The Global Compact is a voluntary initiative that seeks to provide a global framework to promote sustainable growth and good citizenship through committed and creative corporate leadership.

The Global Compact was formally launched at the UN Headquarters in 2000, and calls on companies to embrace and support, within their own areas of influence, ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption.

Human Rights

  1. Business should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights
  2. Make sure they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

Labour Standards

  1. Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining
  2. The elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour
  3. The effective abolition of child labour
  4. Eliminate discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

Environment

  1. Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges
  2. Undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility
  3. Encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies

Anti-Corruption

  1. Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

Global Renewables, through its UR-3R™ Facility, has committed to the development and implementation of environmentally responsible technologies. In doing so, the company shall work to continually improve the Facility's environmental performance as enabling technologies emerge (or are developed by Global Renewables).

Global Renewables believes that the principles of the Global Compact are a reflection of its vision, values and commitment to responsible corporate citizenship.
